Bachelor's Program Overview

About 20 bachelor's degree programs are offered through Kaplan University and most can be earned entirely online. Degree programs include business administration and management, criminal justice, psychology, information technology, paralegal studies and liberal studies. Students can also take in-person classes at one of Kaplan's brick-and-mortar facilities in Iowa, Nebraska, Maine and Maryland.

Faculty at Kaplan use a variety of instructional methods to teach course content, including interactive seminars, online quizzes, discussion boards and Web-based field trips. Students are required to log in to a typical course at least three times per week and can interact with instructors during online office hours. Online writing, math, science and technology centers offer tutoring as well as project and paper reviews, among other support services. The school is military friendly and offers a tuition discount on all associate and bachelor's degree programs to active-duty personnel.

Kaplan is a for-profit institution that is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Prospective students are advised to research licensure requirements for some technical careers to ensure Kaplan's degree programs meet requirements.

Kaplan University, a proprietary institution, has been offering online bachelor's degree programs since 2001-2002.
