Graduate Education Program Overview

Concordia University is a Christian institution that infuses faith into every aspect of learning. The university is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and University; however, the online graduate education degree programs are not accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the two accrediting bodies recognized by the Department of Education. Completion of a graduate education degree at Concordia does not generally lead to certification or licensure.

More than 20 specializations are offered in the online one-year Master of Education degree program. Specializations include curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, special education, and career and technical education. The program consists of 10 courses, each five weeks in length. Course work includes readings, discussion board posts and short papers. There are no quizzes or tests. All instructors are licensed teachers who have at least a master's degree. Concordia also offers a Doctorate of Education degree that can be completed online or on Concordia's campus in Portland, Ore.

Support services such as 24/7 tech support, academic advising, library services and mentoring are available. Students should have a cable or DSL Internet connection and a webcam capable of video Web conferencing. Payment plans, military benefits and college-funded aid are also available.

At Concordia University, a private institution, all of the online education classes are recorded and archived, so students can access the information on their own time. The application deadline for online education degree programs at Concordia University is rolling.
