Students are assigned a student ID number, which is used to create accounts in systems at the University including email, the Moodle learning management system, and others. Each of these systems then requires a username and password as part of matriculation. When the student registers for a course the faculty member can obtain a roster including photographs of the students. Some faculty ask class members to post their photo within the roster function of the Moodle system and others that use the web conferencing system may be able to verify the identity of those students with a webcam. Online testing and the submission of assignments generally require logging into the Moodle system as a means of verifying identity.
