Yes, a regional accreditation is the first and foremost, but the business accreditation should ultimately be the decision point for the MBA. Especially if you one day desire to be apart of the upper management or leadership of a respectable company, the accreditation and school name will likely be your ticket in. More so, if you desire to become a business school/field professor. In that case, the AACSB accreditation listed above is your sure ticket. It is the most prestigious, to-date.

See the following link for a listing of "get educated.com" best picks for "online" AACSB accredited MBAs, most of which do not require the GMAT. However, be aware, you will most likely pay more for that AACSB accreditation. So, is it worth the ROI for your particular life, future, goals? Only you know that answer. Good luck!

Brian,

Thanks for a great article, I thought it had some very good points. I particularly appreciate the quote about finding a school or program that cares about your education. I imagine the perfect online MBA is a little different for everyone - It seems that it would be best to get brochures and information from all the schools you are considering, so you can get a feel for the "style" of each school or program... What do you think?

This website has a list of accredited online MBA schools that offer free information:http://online-mba-programs.com/schools/

Hope this is helpful to your readers!

Interesting story, Brian. Do online programs offer much in the way of experiential learning -- at established businesses?

Best,
