Online education provides many options for those interested in earning a degree. One of the newer programs available is the online Associate of Administrative Assistant (http://online.bryantstratton.edu/admin-assistant) degree program offered by Bryant & Stratton College. Supporting the recent launch, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment of executive secretaries and administrative assistants will increase 13 percent between 2008 and 2018. Bryant & Stratton College is currently accepting enrollments in the online Associate of Administrative Assistant degree program for classes beginning March 3 or May 5, 2010.

It's really important to make sure any online degree program you enroll in is being run by a regionally accredited institution. You can check this at the US Department of Education's website: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation
Also, here's a good article about the kind of attitude and mindset online college students should have to successfully tackle an online college degree: http://www.aiuonline.edu/online-education/online_learning.aspx

For a True Democracy to exist, everyone must be able to participate in their society. A free online university will give all the means to participate in the opportunities of the 21st century & new global economy in what ever way they desire and not as they can afford. I can imagine a world where anyone can apply themselves and become a Lawyer, Doctor or scientist without the $500,000 is costs today.
This is revolutionary and might represent the end of class and privileged and the beginning of merit and worth.
I would love to earn a degree in psychology, philosophy and graphic design, some day through this great new project in democracy and human rights.

a passing cloud
invents an emotion,

Reading your comments suggests that you are somewhat biased towards regional accreditation. You refer to it as being the top accreditation. The Department of Education also lists other types of accreditation such as national and makes no distinction between which is better. It makes it hard for the reader to make a good decision when accurate information is not provided.

All education especially of higher learning is the same. Each student gets from the education what they give. A degree from an accredited institution be it the University of Phoenix or the University of Alabama is a degree. Both are accredited by the appropriate regional body, and the specialty entities such as ACBSP etc.
Any institution that believes that a degree from another institution is better or has produced a better individual are misinformed. The reality is, that such illusions are perpetuated by those that passed through the same doors before them to continue the myth.
Here is what matters - education, experience and performance.
I have worked with Harvard grads that were poor performers, and those that only completed high school that performed amazingly well.

I am 1 1/2 years into my PhD in Psychology program at Walden University. My experience has been amazing. The professors are always readily available and very present in the online classroom. Feedback is provided on a daily basis. The student resources, such as the research and writing center, have been quick to answer any questions that I have had. The online environment requires a lot of discipline and time management.
For some people who feel bitter and used, perhaps the online environment just wasn't the right learning forum for them. It's ok that some people require the face to face interaction. Online universities are not in competition with traditional universities. They are simply offering an alternative mode of learning, making education accessible to a broad range of learners. Many traditional universities are now offering their degree programs online, such as Harvard University.
Please fully research your online degree program. Focus on accreditation. Don't just read the words of one angry student and believe that online universities have no interaction or accountability. I have had a lot of interaction and many opportunities for networking. In order for an online university to be regionally accredited (the top accreditation recognized by the US Department of Education), they have to meet the same rigorous requirements as any traditional university with the same accreditation (such as University of Maryland, NYU, Ohio State University, Harvard, and Yale... just to name a few).
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Before you apply to any school, you must do your research and choose the school that will best set you up for success.
Best of luck in your degree program!

Many people do not know that they can now take their lab science courses online if they find a program that uses LabPaqs, such as CCCOnline (14 community colleges in Colorado that combined to offer online programs). You can complete online courses in anatomy & physiology, biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, geology and forensics using a LabPaq earn full credit that is transferable to another school. There are @12 - 20 labs per LabPaq that are both challenging and fun to do. Check this out on a YouTube video at http://www.labpaq.com/LabPaq+Experiment
