Graduate Education Program Overview

Arkansas State University--Jonesboro offers a number of graduate and postgraduate degree programs geared toward practicing educators. ASU is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and the school's online graduate education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, one of the two accrediting bodies recognized by the Department of Education. Prospective students are advised to research their home state's requirements to confirm that ASU's online graduate education programs can be used to obtain a teaching license.

Nearly 10 graduate education degree programs are offered through ASU online, including master's degrees in educational theory and practice, curriculum and instruction and special education. ASU also offers a postgraduate education specialist degree in educational leadership. Courses at ASU are taught in seven-week terms and most degree programs can be completed in about 18 to 20 months. While most course work can be completed entirely online, some programs may require students to complete field-based experiences.

Prospective graduate education students must possess a valid teaching certificate and have a bachelor's or master's degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, among other requirements. Online students at ASU have access to 24/7 tech support, academic advising and an electronic library.
