How about these first: "What specifically makes you qualified to give advice to my child on his/her future? What is your track record on the advice you have given?"

Or this one: "My child is not interested in college now but would prefer to learn a trade. What local companies and vocational schools does the school have a relationship with where he might pursue this option?"
