I agree that it depends on what classes, degree, and school you are going to and from. All schools are different. So to save more money apply for scholarships, they are there for a reason. Everyone here has made some very valid points. A 2 + 2 path finds its value in the transferability of credits earned at community college. It is important to make sure your credits will transfer to your chosen transfer school.
The best way to do this is to decide where you would like to transfer before starting so you'll know whether they accept credits from your community college. Additionally, you should contact the transfer department at your community college to determine which four-year colleges and universities accept credits and how to apply them.
It is best not to assume anything. Also contact your intended transfer school - the best source is the proverbial horse's mouth. If possible, do this before enrolling in and taking classes, so you don't spend money and time on credits that won't transfer.

When I graduated and then transferred to a four-year University from a Community College across town, imagine my surprise when I was informed that I would lose 22 credits upon transfer. That equaled another year of school. So, I wonder, did I really save anything?? Hmmm...

Tulane University refuses to honor transfer credit for a math class at Santa Monica College, the community college in California which has the most transfers to the University of California. Having to take an online math class at another university will potentially cost up to $7,500 (5 units @ $1,500), as well as requiring payment of an additional fee to file for graduation again & to process paperwork during the semester that the course is successfully completed.

Starting a nursing degree (or any professional degree) at a community college could save a lot of money. But how do I know whether my credits will transfer? Is there a way to confirm whether the courses I take at a community college will count when I get to my next school? I've looked at www.Kambeo.com and a few other sites for this information, but it's hard to find.
