On a practical note, you should also remember to budget your application costs. Be sure to check to see if your intended schools offer free or reduced applications if you apply on-line, in person, if you visit or something else. http://www.porcelina.net/freeapps/ has a nice collection of schools with free or reduced applications, and if you sign up for mailing lists (rather than waiting for them to come to you), you'll often get "coupons" or special codes in your mail/e-mail that you can use when applying to save money.

You should never let those discounts choose your schools for you, but if you're thinking about adding another school or you need to cut your costs, it's a great resource. I saved about $250!

Of course, there is much more to being accepted to a top 50 college. Personal essays, letters of recommendation, and now even self-recorded videos are very beneficial when applying to a school. The most important aspect of all, however, still remains the same...Academics. To an admissions officer, a high GPA and high test scores are still most impressive.

At C2 Education, we specialize in college preparation. From our extensive PSAT, SAT, ACT, and SAT II tutoring to AP and IB exam preparation, we provide high school students with an overcompensating curriculum that will propel their academics as well as their confidence.

Notable statistics: nine out of ten C2 students get into their first- or second-choice school. This is all the more remarkable since most of our students are competing for spots at some of the nation's most competitive schools, including Ivy League institutions, and other top 50 colleges and universities ranked by U.S. News and World Report.
