Another great app that is use all the time is Circus Ponies Notebook, at http://www.circusponies.com.  Its just like using a paper notebook except on my iPad.  Before class I grab today's lecture notes PDF from my profs website and Notebook lets me add the PDF to my notebook as separate pages.  You can add text notes and scribble right on top of the pages, and swipe back and forth to switch pages.  When I don't have the prof's notes I just add a new page to my notebook and start typing notes (it has an outliner built in).  It even records the lecture so that I can go back later and listen to it again if I ever miss anything.  Its great!

Today was my first day of college and tomorrow I will be purchasing an iPad for school. I thought I would look up what was suggested as far as apps for college go. Scrabble, Netflix, and IM+ are HORRIBLE options, as they are for LEISURE, not something to do during class. Also, from past experience, teachers HATE Wikipedia, so I am baffled as to why Articles for iPad is on this list. Anybody can add false information, therefor interefering with a student's paper or study. Penultimate, on the other hand, I am surprised to see is not nearly as important as wathing a movie in class. The stunning notetaking app is essential if you are to be using your iPad for notetaking.

A great app for Intro Stats is “Statistics 1″. It has Cliff Notes-like lessons, quizzes, flashcards, calculators, decision-trees, glossaries, and a bunch of other tools for learning basic statistics. The app is currently featured in Back to School section of the iTunes App Store (8/24/2011).

I am a college professor and an avid IPad user, and was shocked by how thin and poorly reasoned this list was. Pages for instance, lacks a ready output function and can only handle word processing, There are two outstanding apps at this price point that integrates with dropbox, boxee, sugarsync, etc. and they also handle presentations and spreadsheets. Things is not a great program for many college students istudiez, course notes, or one of the other hundred or so inexpensive student oriented apps would be better and a fraction of the cost.

I could go on. Skip this review and look elsewhere!

I have been using this new amazing app called cctToDo. It is a cloud based task manager that I use to stay on top of my schedule. It works on whatever device you're using – Windows, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, Android, web, and email.

Granted I understand where you are coming from but trust those individuals are out there. I am a full-time college student, actively involved on campus, have a 7 month old and work. The iPad was a gift since my family decided that I needed to keep up with everything I am into, so info on free and low priced apps are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

@Ian, thank you so much for the post on the note taking app. I have been looking for one as well. I am definitely going to further look into it.
