John Wooden is easily one of the most famous men in college sports history. He's the coach of 10 national championship basketball teams at the University of California-Los Angeles, and his hospitalization has the sports world concerned. Wooden has actually been in the hospital since May 26, battling dehydration, reports say. According to anonymous sources in multiple media reports, the 99-year-old living legend is in grave condition.
Still, reports on Friday say that Wooden is resting comfortably, the Daily Bruin says. UCLA and Wooden's family did not want to officially comment any further on the coach's status.
Wooden is at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He has battled several illnesses in recent years, including a bout with pneumonia in February 2009 and a hard fall in 2008.
As a lifelong hoophead, Paper Trail is hoping Coach Wooden recovers. UCLA and the college sports world certainly hope so, too.
