What planet do these folks come from? Did they seriously expect to be treated the same as liberal students on a college campus?

It's amusing for someone who lives in Wisconsin to call Oregon a "socialist state". Oregon has a history of fairness and cooperation from both sides, evidenced by the warm working relationship between Senator Ron Wyden - a Democrat - and former Senator Gordon Smith - a Republican, as well as other bipartisan political pairs from Oregon's past.

I think you should bear in mind, too, that you're talking about SCHOOL newspapers, one of which, 'The Daily Barometer', is the sanctioned school paper, while the other is a one-sided, political publication.

What saddens me is that you take so great umbrage to fairness that you ASSUME that the grandparents of all Oregonians "would be sickened". I assure you that they would not.

As I recall, Wisconsin is a blue state. By your logic, wouldn't that make it a "socialist state", too?

I remember a time when Oregon was the home of bold explorers. (I'm old). The people of the west moved there because they were sick and tired of government buerocrats, and all the laws and mandates. The western frontier was to be the the last bastion of freedom. Your great grandparents would be sickened by the socialist state you have become.
