Connecticut is a state that has always sent much more money to Washington than it gets back. Only Republicans are supposed to ask for earmarks, right?

Next time I order a customized plate, it will read "HILL HOZ" in honor of the whores in the Senate and House. They are all despicable.

You make your entire party look bad and give the Republicans fodder by adding a special earmark for your state. This will hurt come re-election time too. You're an idiot Senator.

Suzanne McCain of AZ 3:08PM December 23, 2009

Greer is right to point out an egregious example of what I call "politics and money." There's nothing new in what Dodd and the others are doing, though. It's all been done before, because politics and money have gone together for a very long time. Democrats and Republicans are equally culpable.

Until voters in this country decide they've had enough, the problems of "pork," graft (daintily called political

"contributions"), and the like will only grow worse. Politicians rewarding their constituents for their votes with federal money for home-state projects is no better or worse than contributors to political parties and campaigns paying off politicians to go to bat on their behalf. (The Supreme Court ruling declaring money a form of speech was more fuel for that fire.)

Our two principal political parties get away with far more than they ought to, fooling enough of the people enough of the time all it takes. Shame on them for duping us. Shame on us for letting them.

May all of you who support this pork choke on your Christmas dinners. God willing.

What the Democratic Congress is engaging in right now is the most corrupt form of Politics our country has possible ever seen. They blatantly disregard the desire and voice of the American working class and are misdirecting and inappropriately misallocating our tax dollars for their own benefit and agenda. If anyone thinks this is not part of their "redistibution of wealth" plan, they are simply uneducated or are in denial. No jobs... no transparency... no Bi-Partisanship... no nothing from this Liberal Super-Majority except shady, "behind the scenes" deals and payoffs to pad their own coffers. Simply a disgrace and I hope that the voters don't forget about this travesty when it comes to the next election cycles.

If this whole corrupt fiasco stands our country is gone. Exemptions for some Union professions, special deals for one state over another. This is not democracy, this is vote buying, payoff to campaign contributors and friends of politicians. If Americans don't revolt over this, then get used to government domination of your life. Stand up America, it is now or never. This is NOT about healthcare! This is about the ruling class maintaining a grabbing more power.

Rollo of CA 8:49PM December 22, 2009

That this did not seem to have merit enough to stand on its own should tell you something. They benefit from Pork Spending and have no shame!

That is what our country is ultimately going to be reduced to. People like Dodd, as corrupt as they come, will grab whatever they can however they can. If you want to have a fair chance without cheating to get by, this soon will not be the country to do it in. Real effort will not be rewarded. Sloppy practices will be incentivized instead. Just look at healthcare. Limits on Profit. No limits on spending. Hmm... Seems to me you would be better off just overpaying everyone and jacking up your premiums. Profits are on a percentage of Gross Expenses, so the higher the expenses, the greater the Profits! Great! We've figured out just how to motivate those "money grubbers" to really give us the shaft! I fuly expect my healthcare costs to double or triple before Obama gets kicked out on election 2012!
