They've gone too far? Since when is investigating a man's innocence or, conversely, a government's malfeasance, a criminal act?

However, my usual Plebeian indignation is suppressed because fundamental and elementary questions were not addressed in this article. For instance, why is the school withholding the evidence? No way can it be bravado or oneupmanship that pits freedom of the press over someone's life?
