Mother's in Chicago has been a racist bar for 30 years. This is nothing new. I am from Chicago and it is common knowledge.

Cutz, who is white, said he confronted the manager. "These six [students] were better-dressed than I was," Cutz told CNN.

He told the students to "go back to the hotel and change." But the manager of the bar stepped in to say that he had made his decision and that the six men could not return to the bar even if they changed clothes, Cutz said.

The students became "more agitated" and "set up an experiment," Cutz said.

Class Treasurer Regis Murayi, who is black, exchanged jeans with a white student, Jordan Roberts, who -- being 3 inches shorter than Murayi -- looked "substantially baggy."

Roberts approached the same manager who had turned away the African-American students, paid the entry fee and was allowed in, Cutz said.

Why are they patronizing an establishment that apparently doesn't want them there? I hope that they will no longer support this place.

Who is the racist now?

This is being reported differently than NPR reported it. According to the NPR repor and interview they weren't allowed in because of a baggy pants rule. Is that still racism, maybe as I see both white and black young men wear pants that are so low thaey show half or more of their underwear. I don't care to see this and if there is such a rule as this at a private club that was inforced equally then no problem, but if enforced only against one group the racism. Please let us not jump to conclusions.

It isn't that they were singled out in the bar. It is racism due to the fact that they weren't let into the bar because of their race. Furthermore, what makes this bar a "White Bar". The management claims that anyone is welcome.People have the right, whether it is seems stupid or not, to go into any establishment that is said to be open to the public.Denying people that right due to their race, is racism, and is illegal.

why is it called racism ,when blacks are signaled out in a white bar.if a white goes in a black establishment the police call you stupid for going in.
