University of Florida to Offer Spouse Tickets to Domestic Partners

October 8, 2009 RSS Feed Print

The University of Florida will offer spouse tickets to students' domestic partners for the university's football and basketball games, the Independent Florida Alligator reports. The spouse tickets cost the same as student tickets, which are cheaper than general admission tickets, the report says.

The University Athletic Association changed the policy, which previously required couples to provide a marriage license to buy tickets, last week. Spouse eligibility will now be decided by UF Student Legal Services.

"We are as much a part of the Gator Nation as any other student, faculty, or staff here at the University of Florida," Pride Student Union's Vice President of Outreach Whitney Blake tells the Alligator.

The policy is effective immediately.
