I watched porn when I was underage by using a fake ID. From someone who has done that, those movies get quite boring after 15 minutes. Kids will giggle at first but a few more and they will grow quickly out of it.

I think these matters should be handled at a very local level, such as within the school that decieded to show them. People are always trying to govern what you are allowed to see and do. There are laws that protect your dog and kids from you, if the film that is shown does not violate those laws then there should not be a problem.

I would argue that this country was born on the premise of free RESPONSIBLE speech.

Not everything is permissible, otherwise why not start broadcasting bestiality and child porn? Aren't those protected by free speech as well???

whether this "rubs someone the wrong way" (see prior post). It's a matter of whether you have the poor judgment to rile up the taxpayers and donors who provide funding to the university---and whether you do such things for reasons that have no important point. Porn is neither "speech" nor "art" in any legitimate educational context.

This country was built on the premise of free speech. Will it still be allowed if it rubs someone the wrong way. The rules are the rules. If a porn film is shown in Maryland from state funds, then this is freedom of speech - period. The givernment may request a peper asking how the money was spent but artistic works of art are still valid.

but the insistence of some leaders at this university to sponsor porn on the campus of a state-supported institution is plumb goofy. Even Obama said he "was not opposed to all wars, just dumb wars". This is a provoked culture fight that nobody needs---and one that probably will not "end well".
