What the article does not mention is that tenured, full professors are part of the layoff pool. If these cuts are proved then tenure is worth nothing at UF.

doesn't receive state funds. In fact, the University Athletic Association (UAA) is one of the largest donors (if not the largest single donor) to the University's athletic programs. Moreover, the school's most visible coaches, Urban Meyer and Billy D, have spent time, money, and effort to help raise funds to provide scholarships to first generation college students who may want to attend UF. So please, before attacking UF athletics, please consider the positives it provides -- positives in addition to the visibility that a successful sports program provides for a university like UF.

they will demand a 100% cut of any state funds going into any sports programs BEFORE they cut any other thing.

Sports ought to be either self-sustaining (tickets and such) or paid by the participants (special assessments to the players.)

Nope, sure enough, you can bet your shorts the "Regents" don't have this much of a clue.
