What tax cuts am I getting from YO bama. I have added taxes to pay from now on because of him. He decided to tax my medical insurance as income so Me and everyone else with medical insurance through their company will pay more taxes. Another tax increase, state taxes come out irst so Obama decided to reevaluate the federal taxes before state tax deductions and sent me a 1099 saying my state taxes coming out saved me on federal taxes and I must pay taxes on that as income. You people that se Obama giving tax cuts, Tell me what they are. I am a single father of a Thre year old and have a non increasing salary and more taxes now.

DON'T YOU GUYS KNOW THAT JINDIL WILL DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS AND THE OTHERS WILL TAKE EVERYTHING PEOPLE HAVE WORKED FOR ALL THEIR LIVES. TO ME I DON'T THINK IT MATTERS ANYMORE WHAT WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT OR THINK ABOUT IT. THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT. THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER, IT SEEMS TO ME. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN DO TO PUT IN THEIR POCKETS. THATS WHY I DON'T VOTE ANYMORE. JUST WHEN YOU THINK OK HERE'S ONE THAT IS GOING TO DO US SOME GOOD. THEN HE CAUSES ALOT OF PROBLEMS. WELL I'M HERE TO SAY, THEY ARE ALL FULL OF DOO DOO. ALL THE ELECTION IS, IS FOR PEOPLE TO SEE WHO CAN TELL THE BEST LIE. WHEN THEY ARE RUNNING, THEY LIE TO US ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO TO CREATE A BETTER LOUISIANA. JUST ONCE, HAS ANY ONE EVER DID ANYTHING THEY ACTUALLY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO EVEN AFTER THEY TOOK OFFICE?? CAUSE I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT SO. THEY ALL ARE GREEDY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR ME OR THIS STATE. THE ONLY THING THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY IN THEIR POCKET. BUT YOU SEE, JUST AROUND THE CORNER OUR FATHER JESUS IS COMING. BUT BEFORE HE COMES, THERE'S GOING TO BE A TIME WHERE MONEY IS NOTHING. THATS WHEN THE ANTICHRIST IS HERE. I DO BELIEVE THE ANTICHRIST WILL BE IN THE GOVERNMENT. CALL ME CRAZY IF YOU WANT. BUT WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHAT THE HELL DO THE SENATE PLAN TO DO WHEN MONEY IS NO GOOD. THEY WILL HAVE IT, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY NOT A THING WITH IT.

He guys before you throw Jindal under the bus and start with all the how you hate republican talking points. You might want to take a look at the way the state funding is appr. State Funding to Schools is not a fixed items in the budget other items have fixed values, so it's one of the few place it can be cut due to the law. Jindal is proposing an admen, to prevent this. He has to play by the laws on the books.

Nice try though

You guys should study the law a little more.

The problem with Jindal and the Republicans is that they are seriously out of touch with mainstream America. They claim that Obama should consider tax cuts in his stimuls plan; and yet Obama is giving tax cuts to 95% of working Americans. What Republicans do not say is that the want the tax cuts for the wealthiest of Americans. Republicans are so patriotic that they even want to pay their American taxes. Jindal is a joke, but educators aren't laughing. He better run for president because if he runs for Governor he'll be on the unemployment line

Van Joffrian (and others including Jindal) clearly don't understand how higher education works (especially frustrating in the case of Jindal since he was President of the System; how little he seems to have learned). First, people somehow think that cuts are like a barbershop trim. Just do more with less. That's not how it works. Funding programs and positions in higher ed is much more complicated than that. For example, if I have ten biologists teaching 80 credit/contact hours per year, and that number is based on a certain expected headcount, then cutting biologists also means cutting capacity, which means fewer students pay tuition, which means you're in the hole even more. True, you can raise class sizes, but even that has limits, and you'll wind up losing your best faculty to other institutions that have more resources or have less draconian methods of meeting budget deficits. Whole programs will have to go, and even that may not be enough without some form of financial exigency declaration. And sometimes the programs that will go are not necessarily badly managed programs, merely expensive. Programs with clinics constitute one such example. Moreover, this State has given the universities unfunded mandates, which heretofore the System helped with. That help will be gone in the fall. And there are other budgetary considerations as well—cutting student services, community outreach projects, athletics, fundraising, and recruitment. Finally, because the State has given so much more in recent years to LA Tech, ULL, and Southeastern than it has to other institutions in the System (such as Grambling McNeese, and ULM), taking back monies affects the latter institutions a whole lot more. Despite all this, the Lousiana politicians appear to be completely indifferent to what will happen to these institutions should the budget come in as currently proposed.

Bobby or Piyush,

We could not help but watch intently on sixty minutes as you were profiled. I wondered how you felt as you watched the glowing comments about your competence, effectiveness, and persistance, whilst they seemingly be-littled your quesiness for your own heritage.

I was like you - I am an Indian-American who grew up in a small state in the South. Born to industrious parents who extricated themselves from India and saw the promise of the American dream. My Dad was the first member of his family to graduate from college (with his PhD no-less), and he ultimately went on to teach Mechanical Engineering and was a very Eminent professor. He eventually went on to get the role of Eminent Scholar when he moved later to the University of Cincinnati.

It was always a struggle when I was growing up to determine where my faith should lie. My father actually felt that we should embrace religions. He liked to quote Gandhi... "I am a Hindu... I am a Muslim... I am a Jew.. " He told us often that whereever God was praised, we should not feel uncomfortable. I think that your faith is not to be questioned, and those who question your conversion should take heart that you are on the path to God - not elsewise.

But, unlike you, whilst I was born and named Robert - mostly because my Dad and Mom actually liked the name Robert. As in Robert Kennedy, another famous Catholic politician who would not turn his face on his family. My family raised me so that I could choose whether I would be Christian or Hindu. I chose Hinduism. I recognize that you made a different choice.

What disturbs me most is that you now seemingly run away from whom you are to pacify those who might crucify you. I saw you blatently lie that you never witnessed racism in the South - growing up in the same time that I did. I felt that you are trying to hard to be something that you never will be - honest to yourself.

As you are now a role model to many young Indian Americans, I do suggest that you follow Obama's lead who has openly said that the that the song of the Iman's in the morning is a welcome start to the day, "the most beautiful thing." I suggest that you move to actually embrace your heritage. It has defined whom you are, and how you raise your family.

Otherwise, we will always think that you are duplicitous in your methods. A true two-face. I respect your accomplishments. I respect your policies - in general - cutting education is not my favorite choice, but given the current climate - not surprising. But, I can not respect a man who runs away from his culture and heritage.

Piyush - please learn something from our President who has had no problems with his African or Muslim heritage.

Courage of Sacrifice? What a joke! This supposedly independent republican graduate of LSU fails to mention that he graduated from a school where the tuition was so highly subsidized that he basically had an almost free education when compared to the cost of schools in other states. He has gotten what helps him and is unwilling to help anyone or anything else, especially his alma mater which enables his now comfortable lifestyle since he isn't paying back a bunch of student loans. Folks who think like this and Bobby Jindal will ruin LSU, who is not a leader but just another careerist politician. Republicans never vote for a tax hike for anything, much less education for the good of the state. It's the true ME and GREED party. It's simple folks: No money = backwater school = backwater state. Of course, Van Joffrion of NC doesn't live here anymore so it's easy for him to support cuts without suffering consequences.

Well, how refreshing; a politician willing to cut popular funding. I am a loyal LSU fan who graduated with both a BS and MD degree. It is the right thing to do to trim a budget that is not affordable in these tough economic times. One thing we spoiled Americans can't stomach is a little sacrifice for long term good. A nation of debtors just can't understand short term pain for long term gain. The truth is the U S A needs a lot more politicians like Jindal. If we had more of them it would be interesting to sit back and watch the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth and hear the cries to lynch these brave souls. If the population of LA wants to keep up the funding level of colleges, demand a designated tax increase to pay as we go. What a novel idea!!!

Van Joffrion of NC 6:34PM March 13, 2009

Jindal- a real Republican standard bearer! The Republican standard of screwing the average American! Lets make sure the ranks of the rich aren't invaded by educating anybody's children who aren't already wealthy. Jobs overseas and keeping America stupid. Educated people won't vote Republispend.
