George Washington University is already facing an onslaught of housing applications, with 300 more applications from nonfreshman than last year, the Hatchet reports. School officials attribute the 6 percent increase (to 4,833 applications) to the bad economy, a larger senior class, a new dorm, and lower rooming costs (in some cases, the price tag will decrease by $2,000). The figures so far do not include freshman applications.
