More Applicants at Cornell, Duke Law Schools

Cornell is up 8 percent; Duke, 4 percent.

Law school applications at Cornell and Duke are up about 8 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

At Duke, that equals more than 6,300 applications, the most ever for the law school. At Cornell, the bump in applications corresponds with cuts and salary freezes at the law school. "Overall, it is a belt-tightening process to re-examine our budgets without a direct effect on the basic delivery of education to the students," an associate dean for administration and finance told the Cornell Daily Sun. "We are being cautious on commitments for next year, and we have to wait and see what's going to happen."
