George Mason Crowns Male Homecoming Queen

It wasn't as big of a deal as most people make it to be. I actually didn't even know we had picked anyone as Queen, it wasn't until my dad told me when I was home for a visit that my school did that. He had heard it on the local news. Frankly, I'm proud of someone getting it that isn't a popular sorority girl. Maybe outside people should come to our school and see where we really, as students, are upset about things, such as our lack of a football team. Most people are happy for Ryan and other people, especially people who aren't part of our school need to get over it.

What a national embarressment to GMU. What a bunch of PC administrators that are hiding in their offices. I am a student but will resign after this semester to pursue by education that not created a culture that creates this type of spectacle. I encourage all students that feel as I do to express their dissatisfaction to the President and Provost of GMU. Let them know you to are looking for other institutions of higher learning.

Every article I saw mentioned that he did it as a joke. Maybe what won, wasn't just the acceptance of a fellow classmate, but also the notion that "Homecoming Queen" is anachronistic in and of itself.

So, not only is this a win for diversity, it's also an "I told you so" smile at the past when being Homecoming Queen was all a young woman had to look forward to in terms of accolades before getting her MRS degree, and going and raising a family.

It's a beauty pagent, and this time, it looks like brains and beauty: won!

QUEEN THING??? IF SO, THANK THE GOOD LORD FOR RAEANN/RYAN. THERE IS NOTHING SACRED ABOUT A RITUAL THAT IS A PATHETIC THROW BACK (NOTE IT REMAINS ASSOCIATED SO CLOSELY WITH FOOTBALL.....).

i agree. there is no logic in this at all. yea tolerance is fine but acceptance of this as if its a natural good thing is something else. a guy can be gay out of his mind but his body isn't. the sperm that comes out of his penis is still looking for an egg in a woman and he isnt going to find it in a mans you-know-what! the butthole is meant for excretion of the waste of the body, NOT for any insertion! Doing that is so disrespectful to yourself, your body, and God. That MY opinion !

Accept Love? Greater good? There is no logic in this. I don't think that's good at all. It's a slap in the face to the girls that wanted that title. To be beat out by a guy that dresses like a woman? Key word in woman is "womb". He doesn't have a womb and he will never be a woman so he should stop trying to act like one.

The country is swirling into an abyss of degradation and immorality. Sometimes change isn't good at all.

... indeed, though not the way YOU think - The Empire had plenty of drag queens - a primary reason they fell to the Islamic hordes. Of course, that's not the history YOUR taught in your "universities".

It's refreshing to know people and institutions can actually take another look at who makes up society. It's not as simple as fitting into a category or label. George Mason is actually considering removing "Queen" and "King" from the title because they realize they're no longer important. What's important is that Reann was actually elected by a vote of the student body. This is democracy at its best!

Hopefully, this is what we can come to expect from our democratic society in the future. Love is about appreciating each other for what each of us brings to life, not about imprisoning ourselves in religion and preventing the dignity and respect each of has been granted by God.

Therefore, those still lobbing hate bombs over gender and sexuality, this should be a lesson to you. Use it and move on in your lives!
