Elite Schools See Application Bump

I am guessing Ms. Go cannot comment on every school and therefore took a mere sampling. I would be curious about apps to colleges that do not require SAT scores or waive the application fee if submitted online. I think this presents a skewed representation of an institution's application figures and that is why yield is important. Go 'Gate!

Well now that you know, I think you should make an effort to update your article so as to ensure that the reading public has the most accurate information.

what about northwestern? Up or down?

No malice intended. I tried to be as inclusive as possible, but I collected these numbers manually. Some of the highest jumps seemed to have fallen through the cracks. Apologies to Brown and Wesleyan, and thanks to the commenters who posted up their numbers.

I find it shocking that the biggest jump of any school in America was at Wesleyan and yet it is not including on your list. Why is this?

i'm curious why you didn't include brown apps up 21% in the list. it has been well-documented and circulated. strange.

You also missed the jump of Wesleyan University. Wesleyan's application numbers grew the largest of all elite universities-Whatever that means, with a jump of 22%. It seems that students all over the world are excited to head to Middleton, Connecticut to explore a campus known for its academic rigor and VERY liberal politics.

You missed one of the big jumps. Applications to Brown University were up 21% this year to nearly 25,000, according to the "Brown Daily Herald." That's good news for Brown, but bad news for all of the students (like my son) who have applied to go there.
