Well, Ms OSU I didn't say all frats/sorors have test banks. Just because you haven't encountered any at your institution does not mean they do not exist. One of my close friends, an academic advisor at a large university, alerted me to the fact of test banks that certain frats on his campus had access to. Ms OSU, before trying to discount a statement you encounter, please have substantive evidence as to why that statment is false, as opposed to rejecting a concept that you simply because it makes you uncomfortable.

Thanks,

Ohio State must be full of paper black greeks. Shaking my head. Skee-Wee!

Well, I'm a decade in my Greekdom now and I can't say I am surprised. Across all nine of our beloved orgs, there has been an influx of trash. And the sad thing is, many chapters encourage violent behavior between organizations. Over the years I've seen Kappas beat down Ques and all kinds of other foolishness. It needs to stop. A gang mentality has completely taken over our frats and sororities and until we up the quality of the members we bring in, these kinds of images will continue to permeate the media. So sad and so wasteful ... Sadly, if I had a son, I don't even know that I would encourage him to pledge with the way things are these days.

I agree with a lot of the comments made here, going with and against D9 organizations. The article was very brief and did not deserve front page headlines. If it is important enough to put on the cover, it should’ve been more descriptive. Not sure exactly what happened cause I am no longer on campus but from my understanding it was an altercation between two organizations during OSU/Michigan weekend. Therefore, all of the organizations should not have been punished. Someone mentioned that this was not a reason for a social moratorium because this type of stuff happens during that weekend and all of this is true, but the difference is that you are BLACK. Yes, the general campus sets cars on fire, physically harasses Michigan fans and anything else under the sun you can think of but they are the majority. African Americans are constantly being watched and we all know this so I don’t see why someone in Divine Nine organization can even begin to defend what happened. It was completely out of line and the organizations involved should have been punished.

A lot of comments were made about how much these organizations do on campus but from my experience there was not much and I am not excluding my organization. The fraternities do next to nothing on campus other than have parties. The sororities are not any better. They have several programs on campus and no disrespect because those programs are usually informative but what kind of impact do they really have on our community? They are usually just a way to judge potential members’ loyalty to the organization or just to save face. I think now is the time to really re-evaluate these organizations and find a new way to give back. It has been over a century since the beginning of these organizations and we all know things have changed. STOP resting on the tradition that has been passed down and do something different!

It’s sad to say but I don’t think this moratorium is going to solve anything. The only thing it has done is postpone the issues you all are going to face if nothing is done.

Regardless how you slice it, it looks real bad for the Ohio State University.
