Virginia Tech Converts All-Male Dorm to Coed

January 23, 2009 RSS Feed Print

The largest all-male dorm on the East Coast is about to go coed when Virginia Tech converts some areas of Pritchard Hall into living space for women, the Collegiate Times reports. The conversion was prompted by increasing numbers of female students enrolling in Virginia Tech, as well as more demand for coed living space in general.

"The percentage of women has gone up slightly, but it's more a reflection of the millennial generation of students who are more interested in a mixed-gender environment than they are in a single-gender environment," said the vice president of student affairs.

I sure would have liked this better when I went to college. And NOT for the reason of some sexual adventure.

Fact of the matter was, lacking reasons to be civil, our all-male dorm was a bit of an animal house.
