Black Colleges Well Represented at Inaugural Parade

One last note about the Obama inauguration: While the whiz-bang parade included big state university marching bands (such as Ohio State and the University of Tennessee), historically black colleges and universities were particularly well represented on Tuesday. Some schools already are planning return performances—Florida A&M played at both President Clinton's inauguration parades, and Grambling State University was at inaugural events for Presidents Carter, Clinton, and George W. Bush. Howard University's marching band is a first-timer to the event (kind of odd, since the event always happens in its city), and the bands from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Delaware State University, and Hampton University were also selected.

Have you ever visited Hampton University? Not only does the band set the standard, The STANDARD of Excellence is the norm. The level of sophistication sets the STANDARD at HU.I love,I Love,my HU!As an incoming freshman two years ago, I was taken away with it's rich legacy of academic achievements.Attending the "Home by the Sea" is the best decision I could have ever made.

Thank God for our HBCU's and Hampton University
