Everyone is always so quick to judge and criticize police when they are required to take action. Unless something has changed, this is what they are paid to do.

A senior is not "just a kid." The outcome of this incident is tragic and if he would have put the weapon down, it could have possibly been prevented. The point, the police are not to blame. I assure you the officers involved did not want to take anyone's life and this incident will affect them for the rest of their lives'.

Imagine making the salary of a police officer and walking a day in their shoes. They see the worst of everything, run toward gunshots, and have to deal with things you would never imagine. Try looking up articles on police stress. How much money would it take for you to run towards every dangerous situation that arises to help others?

Our profession is the only one where people who have never done the job, always think they know it better than we do. We put our life on the line everyday for you, only to be criticized for our actions.

I think it is simple. If you have a weapon and a police officer orders you to disarm yourself, you have two choices.

It's really easy to sit back and critisize the police isn't it? Sit back and point fingers at everybody else.

So after one of the boy's stray bullets finds its way into the house of one of the neighbors living next door, that's acceptable. And when the same bullet punctures the neighbor's skull, that's still okay. I guess then we have a perfect example of "involuntary man-slaughter".

I think that Americans need to take respnsibility for themselves instead of always trying to blame everything on everybody else and face the fact that there may be consequences for their actions.

I'm a police officer, and if someone points a gun at me after I've repeatedly warned him to drop it, I'm dropping him, no questions asked. I am going home to my wife and kids.Officers are trained to shoot to end the threat. If someone points a gun at you, that is deadly force, which you do not counter with a less-lethal force. If someone points a gun at me, I am not going to fire once...what if I miss and he fires back??? If I'm scared for my life, I'm making sure the threat is neutralized. Common sense is not so common anymore....shame on you who mock these men who have put their life on the line more times in a week than you have ever will in your lifetime. These "bloodthirsty animals" protect your freedom. If you would have stood there and let him point a gun at you, then let "survival of the fittest" take it's course.

This is so tragic; I believe that Miles Allen Murphy was a wonderful person, talented young man who just started to enjoy his life. Who knows what happened that early morning, there are two sides here, police is saying one story and witnesses another, but who cares, it’s too late now to find out what happened for real, his life is taken away and it is game over. I don’t understand why police officer had to shoot this poor young man several times, don’t they train these officer to be reasonable, why are they trained to kill? One shot would be enough to disable him and perhaps give him a chance to survive. They all have taser guns; one of the police officers could use it before using lethal weapon. But, these police officers are like bloodthirsty animals, I am sure that they enjoyed killing this boy.

Witnesses say that he didn't point the gun at them.

The police officers had no right to shoot to kill. He was just a kid.

I guess that is why my mother always told me not to point guns at police officers. Seriously, the police told him to drop his gun several times and when not only did he not, he pointed it at them. Some people are just born stupid.
