oh, it's just for holloween fun. that's what you said when the effigy of sarah palin was on the news. how come you can't say that to barack husein obama?

In some peoples haste to try and find any reasons to excuse away the forceable images of the first black American President being lynched in effigy, they focus on Palin's effigy and pay little mind to McCain's. So Palin has been cut down, but McCain will be blazing through Halloween, who is also a potential President of the United States. But few seemed to care about his image being burned in effigy. Hardly a headline or photo of his portion of the West Hollywood display has been presented in the hundres of articles splashed across the Internet and TV. Why? Because the image of him burning didn't allow those so inclined, to draw racial parralls --- which aren't even applicable to the Palin effigy. A white artist created the display of white candidates with no racial symbols included in his display.

It is amazing to me how quickly people are ready to jump on the racist bandwagon. The effigy of Obama, was a political joke, not an ugly racist act. I actually thought it was pretty clever. To make a statement about the lack of ability in leadership that one of the presidential candidates has..was very creative. Tying a cardboard cutout of Obama with a sign that he would have been an "Act Six Reject" was genius. If you actually THINK about it..but then I don't expect many journalists to do that these days.

It is more fun to wave the racist banner than it is to get to the bottom of the story. Act Six Scholarships are given out to students who demonstrate leadership potential.not just minorities, but all students (some perhaps, because of financial struggles). But the Act Six Reject referenced the fact that whoever was wearing the sign, did NOT have the leadership potential to LEAD.therefore, they were a reject for the scholarship program. DUH! IT had nothing to do with race. It was a political statement about the lack of leadership potential in OBAMA. HELLO!! And fishing line was PURPOSELY used and NOT rope (they had rope) so people would not confuse the issue of race.this was NOT a racial attack, but a political JOKE! And all of the media (LIBERALS) jumped at the chance to turn this into a racial attack to bring more attention to Obama. What a sad state of affairs. Some Journalist just make me sick.

Man how much time in the day do you people spend on hating on Obama or McCain?

It's sad to see all this hate.

We can look at the past all we want but who has the best ideas for the future?

Anyways a president is only one person. Although this person has great power in future of our country, we each have power as well. We can't stand a country divided by parties or race or ideals. We need to create some sort of change and that needs to come from working together for the benefit of our society.

It is completely ridiculous that this story has generated any significant attention at all. Hanging an effigy of a political candidate has been common practice in the past. It is not a hate crime, it is not regrettable, and it is not interesting. Grow up, Alison.

Free speech. How soon we forget our rights to it here in the land of the "used to be" free.

Free speech is just that. You don't have to like it. Just support it.Cause if you don't, it will wither like a rose in winter.

Say what is on your mind.Damn the torpedoes.

That, is true democracy. and it belong to those who can yell the loudest.

So were any of the students white? Certainly if they were, this would be a hate crime.

So can we chalk this up as another "fake noose" story?
