The University of Michigan is installing an "ATM of books" in one of its libraries, which will allow students to print copies of books from its digitized collection. The Espresso Book Machine, which will go online October 1, will print and bind any of the university's 2 million digitized out-of-copyright books, as well as thousands of publications from Open Content Alliance.
Each book will cost around $10 and take 5 to 7 minutes to produce. According to Michigan officials, this machine is the first to be used in a university library.
