Syracuse Newspaper Eliminates Friday Edition

September 2, 2008 RSS Feed Print

In a move similar to the decision at UC-Berkeley's Daily Californian to stop printing a newspaper on Wednesdays, Syracuse's Daily Orange will no longer print on Fridays, the student newspaper reports. The Friday edition was doomed by two financial drains at the paper—a lawsuit that dates back to a story published in 2006 and a failed insert that was launched in 2005. The Friday paper was eliminated because of steep declines in circulation at the end of the week, caused mostly by fewer classes being held on Fridays.
