Florida Named Top Party School

I don't know who these kids are that don't study, but I can assure you that the majority of them do...and study hard. Any school with superior athletics programs is going to be seen as a party school. Underage drinking does go on...but it is a salient subject with University officials and local police.

The Princeton Review's party school and other ranking lists are based on what students at the schools in its "Best 368 Colleges" book reported to the company about their own colleges on the survey for this book (not The Princeton Review's opinion of the schools). The party school list is based on students' answers to survey questions about the use of alcohol and drugs and the popularity of the frat/sorority scene on campus and how many hours they study each day outside of class. Also to reader who laments that UF's indepenent paper, The Alligator didn't make the top 5 on "Best College Newspaper" list -- the list isn't based on circulation or readership. It's based only on how students rated how good their own campus newspaper is. UF came in 8 on that list. You can see all the lists and get info on how their based at PrincetonReview.com.

It's not suppose to be quoted; the junior said he didn't have to study because he'd get the same grade if he did and the author was pointing out that the classes must be really easy, or he should be failing...

yes, florida classes are easy. Do you really think you UFers can compare to the Ivy leagues, the UC Berkeleys, the Georgia Techs of the nation? C'mon, I envy your partying ways and college is all about having fun and finding yourselves, but don't delude yourselves in thinking you're the creme d' le creme...you are a first tier party school, great experiences amd probably a blast to go to, but a second tier academic institution. Take it FWIW.

i would like to point out that in the above article the section

"We don't even need to study that much," says one junior. "We know that we'll still get the grade, even with a hangover." Or classes are really easy, but—whatever.

----Or classes are really easy, but-whatever.---

is NOT quoted from the student. (no quotations)

There is a lot of partying, but what school in the middle of no where doesn't have a lot of partying? I went to FSU for a weekend and trust me those kids party way more and study way less. Over there it's all about ex. cur. clubs and partying, my friend's test for Chemistry were a joke. In UF, I studied more than UCF, FSU, and USF students with my same classes did. However, I decided to transfer to another University due to personal reasons, but I got into the University of Chicago (US News 2008 9th best American college) so I'm not sure how this really means anything....

As a recent Gator alum, I have to disagree with the ranking. UF is not all about partying. Also the Alligator (UF newspaper), has one of the biggest circulation and readerships, it should be in the top 5.
