Tulane Students Report Pot Shortage

As a former Tulane student, it was always the out-of-state guys who couldn't deal with the rigorous academic load and needed to smoke weed to get by. "Oh, I'm so stressed with finals..... gimme a joint." Not so for the rest of us. Pot heads need to get a life.

What Drew Dickson fails to mention above is that she is the Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper in question. This is not surprising, given that the story commited the journalistically ethical flaw of depending on anonymous sources and also committed the unforgiveable journalistic flaw of reporting on an issue that is irrelevant to the mission of the fine univeristy the newspaper purports to cover.

"As if there weren't any bigger problems in the world"?

It just so happens the other headlines next to the weed article were about how Tulane's janitorial staff doesn't get any health benefits and about how Tulane still has trouble recruiting a racially diverse student body.

And no, I think talking about the drug problems on college campuses shouldn't be pushed into the background. Just because the Hullabaloo chose to cover the story from a different, more interesting and relevant angle, is no reason to criticize it.
