It is a shame that the real seriousness of this story is being lost in the terminology. Unwanted contact is criminal sexual contact. If this perp follows this path, he will get to the point where "cuddling" no longer satisfies his needs. At that point he will graduate to forcible rape and possibly murder. This could be nipped in the bud right now if people would take this seriously and not couch it in cutsey terminology!!!

I broke this into two lines; paste both into your browser. (If there is an "add link" feature I should be using, I apologize for the mess.)

Cuddled? Did someone lose their thesaurus? Assaulted is the proper term.

This link gives an actual accounting of the crimes, using grown-up terms like "assaulted" and "groped". And "scared".

I do not know who coined the phrase "city cuddler" and quite frankly, do not care. I find that the term is utterly inappropriate and that we all must refuse to use it. Serial rape is not to be reduced to carebears and cherubs. Any violation of an individual's personal space should never be referred to as "cuddling," particularly by law enforcers and journalists. I believe that all news media have a responsibility to reject this phrase and call this man by what he is, a serial attacker and an enormous threat to women, men and children. Any language that evades this reality is unacceptable and disappointing.

I believe that both news and law enforcement can easily take a stand on this issue and chose to approach these devastating events with a more progressive attitude.
