Three Dead After Shooting at Louisiana Technical College

February 8, 2008 RSS Feed Print

A woman shot and killed two female students and then herself in classroom at Louisiana Technical College, a vocational school in Baton Rouge, the Associated Press reports. Around 20 students were in the second-floor room during the shooting, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

"About 8:36 a.m., we began receiving multiple phone calls from inside Louisiana Technical College...multiple calls from cellphones, saying shots were being fired, people had been shot."

Police were there within four minutes and ran into the building. "There was mass pandemonium, people running. One officer—the first into the classroom—told me he could still smell gunpowder."

Students were instructed to stay in their classrooms for about two hours before being released, one student said.

There are no details on the women’s names or ages or what course was being taught at the time.

The school has provided on-site counselors and cancelled class for the remainder of the day.

I want ALL of yall to know; I was IN that classroom when the shooting happened! I have the proof forever tattooed on my body, heart, and mind. Say what you want, but I know the truth. There was NO love triangle or hatred toward the shooter before it happened or ANYTHING like that. The girl has stopped coming to classes a month before she shot up my classroom due to financial issues she was having. She had been living out of her car for two years; nobody knew this. My classmates and I had NO idea of this, but again, she never offered any information that wasn't asked of her, and we had only known her for 3 months when the shooting occurred. She just randomly walked into class one day, shot the two girls, reloaded the gun with a single bullet, and pulled the gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Our surviving class had to come to the conclusion that those two girls were shot due to their proximity to the shooter. It was an incredibly sad day, and to think back on it now, it STILL is because those two girls had WONDERFUL potential as nurses. I still see the children they left behind, and think about them even more often. The three girls that died that day were all VERY close friends of mine, and I knew for a fact that none of them saw each other outside of school, so there was NO reason that they were shot. They had never done anything to offend the shooter. Don't believe this story? Google my name..."Currie Nichols, Louisiana Technical College, classroom shooting"

Whatever the females deal was...it was no reason to take the life of 2 others. No matter how many times I've thought about offing myself, you just gotta sit back, think, and breathe. Then you'll come to realize nothing can be that bad or that serious to take your own life much less other peoples just because of the way you feel at the moment. My heart goes out to anyone who has ever lost someone.
