Google it: USC's average SAT scores have eclipsed those of UcLA since 2000 and Cal's since 2003. Good for USC and good for all of California.

Dude, I went to UCLA my first year. Worst mistake of my life. Lost in a sea of faceless, scared students. Couldnt talk to my professor to save my life. Finally made the right and smartest decision and transferred to USC. My professors cared. They had hands on knowledge rather than just theoretical bullshit. Students who actually thought and questioned their teachers. Counselors who cared, an athletic program that rocks, and joined the Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe. Not to mention that Trojan Network. Dont hear too much about that all amazing Bruin Network. Oh yeah, cuz its just not the same. Thanks, bye.

Firstly, as a prior student who was on a full University Grant, we are definately not all rich. Actually the majority of students do not even come from wealthy homes, so you need to check up on your statements. Secondly, LAPD is way too rough on these college students and it seems to me they should actually be protecting the people on Ellendale Pl who are shot yearly rather than harassing college students who do no more harm than pass out and break some glass. You, Janet, obviously did not go to college or went to a school with a dry campus because for you to say USC is out of control is ridiculous. It isnt even ranked nationally as a party school even up to 50. USC has a lot of good kids who just need to unwind. LAPD is just too uptight. They need to focus on much more serious problems. You are probably just another ill-informed, poorly, public school educated UCLA student, so I forgive you for your stupidity.

Don't be so quick to knock sororities and fraternities by assuming that they were the rowdy ones. In fact, the parties that night were held and attended almost exclusively by non-Greeks, as all the Greek students were at their own events (it was the last night of rush).

Not so fast, Drew, my friend. From 2006:

"At the same time, USC has made huge strides. In 1996, only 12,778 high school seniors applied, forcing USC to admit 72percent. This spring, the admissions office received 33,979 applications and admitted 25percent - the same admissions ratio as UCLA.

During that time, average SAT scores of admitted USC students have climbed about 150 points, to 1,374 this spring (adjusted for the new test). The same average SAT at UCLA was 1,339."

"one of the most prestigious Universities & Academic Research Centers", "a highly accomplished seriously academic school." Ha. Man, you guys bring the lulz. Still sounds like a bunch of rich kids who weren't smart enough to get into UCLA causing problems for the LAPD. The fact that its referred to as a "sit-in" is unbelievable. A huge disservice to the sit-ins of the 60's. What were they fighting for? Oh yeah. Their right...to paaaaaaaaaaaartay.

recent stats: UC Berkeley students, on average, have higher family net worths than USC families. It's because USC has given out so much financial aid to high-IQ yet low income students.

At Berkeley on any given night I can find a few hundred drunk obnoxiuos students, yet they are spread out. At USC there's only a couple streets where the students are relatively safe to party, thus the congregations. Same can be said of Yale, Princenton, Columbia, etc. neighborhoods.

On any given night at any college you'll find stupid behavior...anyone who doesn't know this either wasn't very social when they were young or doesn't have kids in high school or college.

And as to "sit-ins" and causes. I was there in Berkeley, and most of those kids with a cause were stoned, drunk, and went home to an upper middle class home for a steak dinner after there riots. The only thing worrse than a kid having fun in college is a kid who thinks he has a cause to justify his partying and blowing off civil behavior!

USC is a highly accomplished seriously academic school and the people out there who resent their success such as Janet should try looking inward at why they feel compelled to lash out at 18 to 22 year old young people who have worked very hard to get in to one of the most competitive universities in the country.

As a recent USC graduate who is NOT rich and spoiled (having absolutely no financial support from family and having grown up on welfare) and who does not party, I am also pretty disgusted by "JANET of CA." Obviously, there are some rich frat and sorority kids who don't have any common sense after years of pamering and don't know how to properly plan a social gathering. But to suggest that this incident reflects badly upon all people "who are students at USC" is outrageous. I've known many people who were students at UCLA, UW, Berkeley, etc. who attended large and out-of-control parties, and I never heard anyone suggest it was because the entire student bodies of those institutions were "spoiled." A party got too big, some stupid kids (many of whom were probably NOT students at USC but heard about it on Facebook) got rowdy, it had to be shut down. That doesn't change the fact that the majority of USC students are good, hard-working, studious and innovative people.

This was a stupid event, and it's a shame it made any news. Just thought I would comment, as a USC student who didn't attend the "riot", ha, I was probably studying or coming up with a scintillating comment for JANET OF CA... still thinking...

Either way, don't allow this event to change your opinion of USC, it is and will always be one of the most prestigious Universities & Academic Research Centers in the United States. We are all human and make mistakes.
