The Ball State Daily News's continuous coverage of its school's very own Miss Indiana continues to be a strange—and strangely fulfilling—ride. Things we know about Miss Indiana, who will compete in the Miss America competition (not the Donald Trump one) this Saturday:
1. She line dances.
2. She is "intellectually curious."
In her youth, Nicole's mother said she was always the curious type. She said she recalled a time when Nicole came home from school.
"Mom, I decided that every day I'll learn a new word," Nicole said, to her mother's surprise.
Cindy also recalled the time when Nicole wanted to know why ants were some of the strongest animals in the world, she said.
But she always was intellectually curious, she said, which could be unusual from a typical teenage girl.
"If a topic was brought up, she would go home in a day or two to research it," she said.
3. She has an "A-game."
4. She does her hair and makeup all by her lonesome.
5. Her parents ride Harleys.
6. And lastly, she rubs a 14-year-old, blue-haired troll for good luck. "This thing has won Miss Indiana three times, first runner-up twice, and second runner-up, now let me stand here and wave it around your head," said one of her pageant directors. "[Pageant Troll] even has little rhinestone shoes."
