Duke’s White Bronco Moment and Then Some

January 24, 2008 RSS Feed Print

Duke University students are keeping the Durham police busy this week. Last Friday, a graduate student was shot and killed, the Chronicle reports. This week, a high-speed car chase led to the arrest of a 19-year-old, who was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in relation to the shooting. Meanwhile, authorities have also been cleaning up the mess left by a resident who allegedly tried to blow up his house in a botched suicide attempt. Fire department officials say the man kindly let out his cats before dousing the house with gasoline. "It's kind of a surreal thing to see a house explode," said a witness. "With everything that's been going on in Durham this weekend...this was nuts."
