Worst Halloween Costume Ever

These individuals are getting some, but certainly not all, of what they deserve. A thorough physical beating as well as social banishment would be completely in order. Someone should hold a gun to their head and ask them how they think their family would feel if someone dressed up like their dead body next halloween after the were murdered.

Here's a footnote-

This young man will one day be an old man with a lot of regrets. And he wonders why he has no "outside support"? Are we to somehow forgive him his callousness or idiocy in refusing to make a public apology because he has suffered the loss of his own mother recently? You would think an event like that would help someone develop empathy for others who have lost loved ones--instead of the reverse. While I am sorry for his loss, I have no forgiveness for this yound fool until he can show some civility and sense of remorse for his stupid behavior and subsequent statements

Reported by on Roanoke .com:

"Penn State student loses job over Tech victim costume

Nathan Jones, one of the Penn State University students who dressed for Halloween as a Virginia Tech shooting victim, said the controversy has cost him his job.

In an e-mail Friday, Jones said he was asked to resign Thursday from his post at Bank of America or be fired.

"They were worried that my name may be attached to the Bank of America brand, and that this controversy would lead to a scandal," he said.

Photos of Jones and another Penn State student were posted on Facebook and caused a national outcry.

In interviews with several media outlets, including an on-camera piece on CNN this week, Jones refused to apologize.

"Things are going to be hard now, especially since I have no outside support. ... However, even though I will be starving over the holidays and my credit cards will all default, I still will not apologize," he wrote.

I agree, tossing these kids off campus is absurd. However, mocking VT murder victims is outrageous. How comfortable would these kids be dressing up as dead 9/11 firemen and visiting a NYC fire department? They'd learn a hard lesson real fast. These kids should sincerely apologize for being grossly insensitive, but destroying their life potentially for an immature mistake is an overreaction.

I will agree that what these students did was very distasteful and inappropriate. However, I do believe as stated by Penn State officials that they are well within their constitutionals rights. Isn't that why me and many of my brothers and sisters in arms are in a middle eastern country with weapons. Unfortunately, I also agree with one of the costume students statement. For those to over react and make statements, like many have made here on this blog, is also immature. So "get out of your ivory tower of privilege", and get off the trendy band wagon and deal with life. if you are going to allow this same incident piss you off, then pick up a news paper or turn on the TV, or hell talk with a recent Veteran and see what is really going on in the rest of the world. Get over it, these kids were doing this in the privacy and for anyone to say that they have never made a off color/racist/sexiest /etc joke is a hypocrite! if you want to make a difference, then join the military and come over here and help us. Get out of your small little enclosed world and get with a global picture. You never know, one day your children or grandchildren might be forced to speak another language. I'm glad my farther and great grand farther fought for that not to happen. Constitutional

Common Sense Folks.

It was poor judgement by college kids.

Oh My... let's kick them off campus!

Let's get a handle on reallity, people make mistakes, especially teens.

If we tossed them (teens who make poor judgements once in a while) out with the trash we would be missing some very fine, propductive people in today's world.

If you never made a mistake as a teen... kudos to you.. You are a rare!

I hope they name these two people and they get harassed for years. Post their pics everywhere, hopefully they'll never get a good job. This guy makes all these excuses, but if he cared about anything he wouldn't mock the death of a bunch of kids. Penn State should be utterly ashamed

The fact that these two college students dressed as murder victims and thought that it was funny is insensitive. The thing that bothers me MORE is that the young man doesn't feel the need to apologize for offending the victims families and friends. If these students are old enough to vote and serve in our military they are old enough to be held accountable for their lack of good judgment. If I were their parent I would be ASHAMED! As they have their 1st amendment right to dress how they chose on Halloween...as have our 1st amendment right to say it was INAPPROPRIATE.

As an alum of Penn State, I am appalled and embarrassed. These juveniles should be expelled with the 5:00 a.m. trash that students are complaining about. Garbage like this should not be associated with PSU. The university, students, faculty, and alum deserve better. Most importantly, VA Tech deserves better. Unfortunately, it is the ruthless, ignorant, stupid act of a few losers that reflects on the university, my university. If a student can be expelled for cheating on a test or other unethical act, certainly these dumb asses deserve a one way ticket on the first bus out of town.

PSU Alum of VA 8:07PM December 11, 2007

Wow, They did not apologize? What a bunch of pricks.

This is normal? College students have a stupidity pass? WTF?

Why is this considered normal for College students? Is there a 4-7 year period where ignorance is accepted? Are College students all of a sudden not adults?

Penn State must not have high standards.

Sam of IL, when a loved one dies in your family, call me so I can crack jokes at the funeral. Then I want you to post here or anywhere else about getting a grip or 'getting over it'.

Penn State is now associated with pricks, better hope they expell thses students in order to get some respect back in campus.
