The fire department in Athens, Ohio, is looking for a way to stop "idiots" from setting street fires around the Ohio University campus, the Post reports. The city has seen a spike in the number of blazes fueled by box spring mattresses, wooden desks, and couches—and officials worry that responding to these conflagrations just diverts resources from potentially more dangerous situations. At one block party, students were seen jumping over burning couches and lighting cigarettes from 8-foot flames. Said the Athens fire chief: "I don't know how you can discourage stupid."
