Marketing 101: Don't Get Arrested

Two Northeastern University freshmen may be reconsidering their marketing tactics after being charged with drug- and alcohol-related offenses this week. According to the Suffolk district attorney's office, one of the men allegedly asked a female passerby from his second-story window if she wanted to buy weed from their dorm room, the Northeastern News reports. The student's timing was unfortunate because two plainclothes policemen had just finished a trip to the bathroom nearby and overheard the sales pitch.

The officers eventually seized from the room eight small bags of marijuana, a larger bag containing 3 to 4 ounces of the "leafy green substance," hundreds of clear plastic bags, a vaporizer, a grinder, a bong, a glass pipe, a digital scale, bottles of Grey Goose vodka, Malibu rum, Smirnoff Twist raspberry vodka, and Southern Comfort, and $1,045 in cash, according to the district attorney's release.

Outside the window, officers found a pulley system to the room above made from two empty plastic bottles, white rope, and duct tape. Officials were unsure of the purpose of the MacGyver-like pulley system. —Alison Go
