University Strike Succeeds in Annoying Students

September 6, 2007 RSS Feed Print

Unionized technical, clerical, and healthcare workers picketed at the University of Minnesota this week after failing to reach a deal with officials after weeks of negotiations over proposed wage increases, the Minnesota Daily reports. More than 1,000 people joined a rally Wednesday, and the picket lines and protests snaked through most of the campus throughout the day.

Some students were less than happy about the commotion. "I wish they'd be quieter marching around campus," said one student. "It bothers me." Sorry, kid: That's sort of the point. —Alison Go
