Chief Illiniwek: Still Dead

Political correctness wins again as a county judge dismissed two lawsuits arguing that the University of Illinois overstepped its authority when it canned Chief Illiniwek, the controversial American Indian mascot the university used for 81 years, the Daily Illini writes. Perhaps hanging on a little too hard to the past, the two men who filed the suit both used to perform as the chief. —Jackie Mantey
