- Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover followed through on his ultimatum to not speak at the UC-Berkeley commencement unless the school resolved its wage dispute with its custodial workers, the Daily Californian reports. University Chancellor Robert Birgeneau spoke instead, while protesters picketed outside the ceremony.
- In other wage dispute news, a second Harvard protester on hunger strike was sent to the hospital Wednesday, according to the Crimson. The protesters, who began their stand last Thursday, demand the university intervene in a conflict on behalf of security guards on campus.
- New waterless urinals at the University of Iowa have perplexed students, irked custodians, and disappointed some school officials, despite environmental benefits such as saving as much as 40,000 gallons of water each per year, the Daily Iowan writes.
- University of Connecticut grad Paul Gulyas and Boston College alum Joe Sabia have struck media gold. The duo's YouTube sensation "7-Minute Sopranos," a bombardment of clips from the HBO hit, has caught the attention of the New York Times, the show's creator, executive producer, and cast, and UConn's Daily Campus. And now it has been featured on Paper Trail.
