  • In what may be one of the shortest smoking bans ever, Allegheny County prohibited lighting up in most public places for 15 hours on Tuesday, the Pitt News reports. The ban went into effect at midnight, but a court-ordered injunction stopped the measure by midafternoon.
  • An American Indian author turned down an honorary degree from the University of North Dakota because of its continuing use of the Fighting Sioux name and logo, the Dakota Student reports. Sounds as though Chief Illiniwek is looking for some company.
