More than 640 Penn State students have been deployed in the war on terrorism since Sept. 11, 2001, the Daily Collegian reports in a story highlighting the marks the Iraq war has left on the college. One ROTC graduate was killed while serving in Iraq's Anbar province last month.
Meanwhile, more and more college students protest the war.
- At Southern Methodist University, hundreds marched to the potential site of the President George W. Bush Library, the Daily Campus reports.
- At the University of New Mexico, 400 pairs of boots were displayed, representing National Guard deaths in Iraq, the Daily Lobo reports.
Some have protested the protests. At Loyola in New Orleans, a confrontation between demonstrators generated a crowd of 100 last week, the Maroon reports.
