Where Should Out-of-State College Students Vote? Not Here, Says One Maine Legislator

Students at Maine colleges spoke last night against a new bill that would prevent dorm residents from voting in that state unless they can prove permanent residency, the Kennebec Journal reports. "I believe that these students should be able to be involved in the political life of college communities but should use the absentee ballot to vote back home," said the state representative who introduced the bill. But students at schools including Bowdoin College and Colby College disagreed, in testimony they waited four hours to deliver. "This is my home now," said a Bowdoin student who is from Connecticut. "I am a resident of Maine."
