To Find a President, Harvard Considers Poaching From Peers


The presidents of Brown, Columbia, Princeton, Tufts, and the University of Pennsylvania are among the candidates for the job of Harvard University's next president, reports the Harvard Crimson, tipped off to a list of 30 names that seems not to include any Washington types. Some had whispered that Condoleezza Rice and Bill Clinton might be among the candidates, but the higher-ed-heavy list shouldn't be much of a surprise. After all, this search began only after Lawrence H. Summers, a former Treasury Secretary criticized for his Washington style, succumbed to the pleas of his critics and resigned.
