Coach Courts Sorority Girls on Behalf of Players

Southern Methodist University's new men's basketball coach had a pizza party last night to thank a group he says makes a "big difference" in the basketball team's success: sororities. "We get about 10 to 15 extra points with good student attendance," said Matt Doherty, the coach. Sorority members agreed that they are important. "It's so necessary," a sophomore Kappa Alpha Theta member told the Daily Campus. SMU isn't the first place Doherty tried out his strategy of filling the stands; he says it also worked miracles at Florida Atlantic and Notre Dame.
