Rock doesn't sell at BSU

The Strokes' performance tonight at Ball State University's 3,400-capacity auditorium could be historic. Not for its attendance--only 1,000 tickets have been sold, even after organizers lowered ticket prices to just $15 Friday. Low sales mean the Strokes show could be the school's last ever rock concert. According to organizers, it's not you, Strokes; it's BSU, which seems to prefer a different kind of music: country. Keith Urban easily sold out the auditorium in 2004, and a Gretchen Wilson show sold 2,300 tickets. But "Matchbox Twenty didn't [sell well]. Ben Harper didn't. Tori Amos didn't. The Muse did not sell well last year," the auditorium's director told the Daily News.
