The Saga of the Suspended 6-Year-Old

I was appalled beyond belief when I first heard of the punishment this innocant little cub scout received for bringing his camp silverware to school. I am encouraged that his punishment was reduced. Please do not let fear make this country into one that is not free such as Communist or Socialist nations where people have to hide even their religious beliefs. I am retirement age now and as I look back over the years to my childhood, I realize that this is NOT the same country I was born too. Let's use compassion and common sense in our schools when dealing with the very young innocent children. Remember, they are the ones who will take over when we are not longer here.

Young Zachary and his mom should never have been victimized by the school like this. If six year old boys can’t reason, as is often implied, it’s because they were never taught by a leftist and feminist society that promotes the use of diapers to the age of 4 or 5, lets their children gain their only knowledge through “Barney the Purple Dinosaur” and through product marketing and advertisement.

My son was born in China, and we were told that at the age of 4, he had the daily chore of igniting the pilot flame of a gas stove in the orphanage that he was assigned to. Here in the U.S. and at the age of 7, he was shooting in .22 rifle competition in the Cub Scouts at the local Marine Corps base that hosts the Scouts for activities several times a year. Today at the age of 11, our son is mystified at the childish dimwitted behavior of children his age; victims of our over-enlightened society.

Finally, when I was in Iraq, we marveled at the responsibilities displayed by young boys there who chopped wood, boiled water, cut up chickens for the family dinner, and even cleaned the family AK47 assault rifle without mishap. Why? Because they were taught properly, just like children in America once hunted with rifles, carried pocket knives, and performed household chores with sharp implements. If today’s American children don’t have the reasoning skills to get them through life, then it is because our lame society doesn’t have the reasoning skills to bring them up properly.

So the kid is an "A" student. That is not the big picture as he is not the only kid at a school. Just how would the story be told if another student had tried to take the knife away from him to look at it and the boy resisted. In the scuffle, a 3rd student had been accidently injured. Then who would all these parents be screaming at then? The school still?

The kid may have had no ill intent and that is truly good and well. However, can the same be said for every kid at the school? If you have kids, how often are things taken or lost from them while they are at school. Now imagine you are told that your kid was injured at school because another student had brought a utility knife with fork spoon to eat. But he managed to have it taken or stolen from him by another student. Aren't you going to be just as mad at the student that brought this item to the school as the kid who injured yours?
